The Schloss Kaltenberg Group is now an internationally-active company with numerous shareholdings and co-operation agreements. The multiple business activities of the Group include the development and granting of royal trademark licences.

Under the globally-licensable brand names of Kaltenberg, König Ludwig, Prinzregent Luitpold and Wittelsbach, the company has been able to assemble an impressive portfolio of top-quality licensed products in recent decades – ranging from speciality drinks and fine food to luxury accessories. The Group’s services include cultural events, hotel accommodation and gastronomy.

All of the royal brands and product families derive their strength from the infinitely diverse life’s work of the great Bavarian monarchs. The numerous tales, legends and anecdotes, along with the style and cultural work of the monarchs, serve as a virtually inexhaustible pool for enduring brand stories.


Luitpold Prince of Bavaria, who presides over the licensing company as the Managing Partner, personally assumes responsibility for the highest brewing quality and the most refined taste of the Group’s speciality beers.


The Schloss Kaltenberg Group grants the trademark licences for a range of top-quality non-alcoholic soft drinks – which have been successful around the globe – in the specifically-developed Royal Premium segment.


The Schloss Kaltenberg Group also grants globally-registered trademark licenses in the segment of top-quality spirits. Fine distillates are produced in close co-operation with selected licensing partners.


King Ludwig and Prince Regent Luitpold are two of the most eminent personalities of the Wittelsbach family. As major rulers, and with their fantastic histories, it is only right that they are the »godfathers« of our licence worlds in the segment of top-quality speciality food.


Inspired by recipes from the legendary court kitchen, we have developed a selection of exquisite royal Bavarian delicacies, interpreted in a modern light and produced with the utmost care by top regional producers.


The royal Lifestyle brands are our own creations, all of which strongly refer in some manner to the personal lifestyles of members of the Wittelsbach family.  The current brand worlds include, inter alia, linen and towels.


Along with our many decades of expertise in hosting guests, our licensable gastronomy worlds are based around the legendary accomplishments of the royal Bavarian court kitchen under the management of the head-chef.


Available are, inter alia, fascinating works on the Bavarian Purity Law and the royal art of brewing, as well as an illustrated book on the Wittelsbachs. Luitpold Prince of Bavaria publishes the great Kaltenberg Castle calendar annually.
